This trail is a treasure-trove of military relics which located at Smuggler's Ridge of Shing Mun and Kam Shan Country Parks. From here, you embark on a journey of wartime memories, with many ruins that mark the chapters of war along the way. There are wartime ruins along this trail, including military marker stone, pillboxes, Shing Mun Redoubt and some of exits of its interconnecting tunnel system. Most were constructed by the British military authorities before the outbreak of WWII in 1937-1938 to defend against attacks from the north. Some of these installations witnessed actions during the Japanese invasion. Interpretation panels are installed at the route entrance at Shing Mun Country Park for hikers to know more about the war relics.
