Spanning Sections Three and Four of the Hong Kong Trail, Aberdeen Country Park is well-equipped, with several trails including a nature trail, a tree walk, a fitness trail, a barbecue area, children’s play facilities, and a tree centre.  Here you will never run out of things to talk about with your children during hiking.  High up in the valley lies Lady Clementi’s Ride, where you can marvel at the scenic splendours of mountains and seas by gazing at the bays and mountains near Deep Water Bay in the distance; down the mountain sit Aberdeen Upper Reservoir and Aberdeen Lower Reservoir, where you can admire the architectural artistry of the structures by taking in declared monuments like arch masonry bridges and the dam.  There is also an education centre called Aberdeen Tree Centre.  With trees as the central theme, the Tree Centre introduces children to tree anatomy and taxonomy through the use of models, computers, video shows, interactive games, etc. Children can then have a walk in the park to observe the common plants including Brisbane Box, Hong Kong Gordonia, and Ivy Tree.  Those who pay close attention may be rewarded with the sight of Rhodoleia, a protected species in Hong Kong.  The bell-shaped blossoms it produces between February and April make a name for itself as the ‘King of Hanging Bells’.
