Chi Ma Wan Country Trail is the longest country trail in country parks, spanning 18.5 kilometres, encircling the Chi Ma Wan Peninsula. Because the trail is along the coastline, years of weathering have shaped the rocks into peculiar forms, and the hillsides are dotted with an impressive array of granite outcrops. During the hike, you will pass the Shap Long Irrigation Reservoir. Built in 1955, it once served as the main water source for Cheung Chau, Peng Chau, and Hei Ling Chau before being converted into an irrigation reservoir in the 1970s.

The first half of the trail is rather flat. This section offers beautiful scenery, with alternating views of lush woods and the sea, overlooking Tai Long Wan, the Sea Ranch, and Mong Tung Wan. Reaching the latter half of the trail, you can follow the sign "Shap Long via Lo Yan Shan" to ascend Lo Yan Shan and Miu Tsai Tun, where you can visit the Lo Yan Shan fire lookout and enjoy the stunning views of Pui O Wan and Hei Ling Chau. Completing the entire Chi Ma Wan Country Trail takes about 8 hours, with no supply points along the way. Climbing up Lo Yan Shan and Miu Tsai Tun requires a certain level of fitness. Please bring enough food, drinking water, and equipment, and proceed according to your ability. This country trail is relatively long, if you wish to exit midway, you can walk one kilometre from Shap Long Irrigation Reservoir to Chi Ma Wan Pier, then head to Mui Wo to take public transportation. Some sections of the trail are uneven and compose of loose sand and gravel, please proceed with caution and be mindful of the road condition. Part of the trail overlap with a mountain bike trail, please yield to cyclists when you encounter them, showing mutual respect and courtesy.
