Located at the entrance of Sai Kung Country Park, Pak Tam Chung easily evokes the childhood memories of many Hongkongers, as it is a popular site for school picnics in spring and autumn. The entire route takes less than an hour and features high plant diversity. For example, overhead are the commonly seen species Taiwan Acacia and Ear-leaved Acacia. The former produces pompon-like golden blossoms from March to October while the latter bears spikes of yellow flowers from September to November. On the ground are some ferns and shrubs, as well as some dense stands of bamboos and climbers. Beyond the former Hakka village houses and the abandoned orchards is the finishing point of the trail.
